Socials are designed to allow puppies interact with size and age appropriate play mates. Though play time is one of our goals, our most important goal is that the puppies learn to interact politely with other dogs as they age. The socials are a great opportunity for structured and supervised interaction.

Simply put, it is easy for a large puppy to injure a small puppy. Older puppies tend to play more intensely and differently overall than younger puppies. Overall, this is a protective choice to ensure your puppy has the most fun they can and benefits from their experiences with us.

Ideally your puppy will be wearing a harness and you will bring a light weight leash they can drag around. Bring a few different types of pre-cut treats or training treats, and something like a stuffed Kong for them to lick or chew on during breaks. Lastly, bring yourself. You will be staying for the duration of the social to manage your puppy! :)

The puppies have to take breaks because it is near impossible for puppies and adolescent dogs to have prolonged play periods with multiple other dogs with out getting overstimulated. Breaks allow for us to help the puppies learn to come away from play time, settle around other dogs, and allows them to return to play time with lower arousal levels. Lower arousal levels help the puppies to interact more appropriately with one another, and allow for better choices to be made during play!.
